Conceptual Idea:
After closely looking at the site (123 Victoria Street) I started drawing some conclusions to what would inspire my design. I noticed that the planning of Kings Cross/Potts Point is based on a series of terrace houses, staring the same views, walls, entries and spaces. Then looking at the master plan, the houses are pushed and pulled off the street or closer to the street, creating a wavelength. The wavelength is also evident in elevation- the different heights of the terraces. From there I wanted to re-create that push and pulling, interconnecting pattern of the wavelength, abstracting it on different planes. The second thing that my design would be inspired by was the single main circulation route of Victoria Street. In my design, I worked to create that single circulation route that would tie the functions of the building as one.
